Frequently Asked Questions

Menstrual cups and discs are both reusable menstrual products that collect blood during your period.
Menstrual cups are easier to insert and remove than discs, especially for new users. They are also less messy to remove, and there are more brands and size options available. However, menstrual cups have a lower capacity than discs, and they cannot be worn during sex.
Menstrual discs are messier to remove than menstrual cups, but they can sometimes auto-dump, which means that you can empty them without having to remove them completely. They also have a higher capacity than menstrual cups, and they can be worn during sex.

First, relax and get in a comfortable position! We recommend sitting on the toilet or squatting in the shower

Next, insert your disc at a horizontal angle, pointing toward your tailbone.

When your disc is inserted, use your index finger or thumb to push up on the rim of the disc and secure it behind your pubic bone.

It may take some practice to find your best insertion technique, so keep trying small adjustments until you find what works best for you! It's totally normal for the disc to not open all the way and remained a little crumpled. This just means it has opened to match the natural shape of your vaginal

Wash your hands and clean the disc by washing with water and a mild soap. Then boil it in a large pot for 20 minutes before first use. You may place the disc in a wire whisk to prevent contact with the bottom of the pan during boiling, which may damage it.

During your period, it is best to wash your disc with the hello wash and warm water every time you empty it. However, if you are using a public restroom, camping, travelling or just do not have access to running water you can either rinse your cup with bottled water or wipe it with a piece of clean tissue – once convenient, wash your cup thoroughly.

After your period has ended, clean the cup thoroughly with a cleanser and warm water. You may also sterilise your disc with a menstrual cup steriliser or baby bottle steriliser. Store the cup in the cotton pouch or any breathable container or bag.
